LODGING and RESERVATIONS

McGoo and I just got back from Ensenada. We've secured a substantially better hotel for 2007. The Mision Santa Isabel. It's on the same main street, just a couple blocks south. There is a cantina, restaurant, gated and patroled parking, a bike-friendly manager and a key-shaped pool with it's own bar and grill. What the hell more do you want? This place is sweet, but call now and get your rooms reserved. If you already had rooms reserved at the Bahia, cancel them and shack up with us at the Isabel, or keep your Bahia rooms, you'll only be about two blocks away from our digs. The bike show on Sunday will be in the back of the parking lot at the Isabel.

You can stay anywhere you want, and you do not have to stay in the same place we are. Eventuallly we won't all be able to fit anyway. There are many hotels and campgrounds in both San Felipe and Ensenada. If you make reservations early, you should be able to get in at both our favorite spots. These are trustworthy friends who speak English and know about and understand the nature of this run. Tell them you are with the El Diablo Run and they'll know where to put you. You can call or email, or in the case of the Isabel, even make online reservations. All contact info is listed below:

San Felipe Thursday & Friday, April 19th & 20th
If Ruben's is full, there are other places to camp, or they will allow you pitch a tent on the beach for the same price as a palapa.

Ensenada, April 21st & 22nd
This is a very busy weekend in town. You must have reservations somewhere, or crash with friends who do. It will be impossible to get a room without calling ahead.

Wanna Bet?

There has been a fair amount of speculating about how far Trumpnut Nick's BSA will make it on next year's EDR. He swears it's running great. He always swears it's running great.

We put togther a betting pool that anyone can get in on, via PayPal.

There are roughly 500 miles in the event from our place in Temecula. Whatever mile Nick makes it past will be his considered his official finish. On the chart, there are 500 squares, each corresponding with one mile of the EDR. Send me a buck per square, we'll pull one random number out of an old helmet per dollar, and put your name on that square on the site. When Nick's beezer shits the bed at mile 278, the dude with his name on that square splits the pot with Nick. If no one purchased that square, Nick gets the whole sheebang. If he makes it the whole way without ever getting towed, or loaded into a trailer or truck, Nick will keep the entire pot.

The link to this page is not available anywhere else on the site, but you can copy and paste the url into emails or blogs and let other people know about it. The goal here is just to have a good time and make fun of Nick for being such a nutty professor, while helping him out with a little extra cash.

Via Con Dios, Nick.

Bet On Nick's BSA!
