Círculo de la Muerte (Hell Track Circle of Death)

A few months ago, George Counes from Spartan shared a good idea with us over hot sausage at the Atomic Customs Compound. "Why can't we set up a dirt track on next year's EDR for some real hell raising?" Good question. The answer is, "We can... maybe."

EDR vets may remember seeing a baseball diamond with bleachers and fencing across the street from Ruben's Campo. We asked our host Aaron at Ruben's if this baseball park was for rent, and he said EVERYTHING in Mexico is for rent. If Aaron can convince the owner of the ball park to let us ride on it, here's how the 2008 EDR Circle of Death at San Felipe Hell Track will go down...

The format for individual motos is simple: two men enter, one man leaves. Each group of two riders will line up head to head and blast three hot laps around the bases. The first guy across the finish line lives to race another moto; the loser watches from the cheap seats. The man to plow through all challengers will be crowned The 2008 EDR Circle of Death champion. Bikes will break, beer will flow and one brave soul will stand atop the podium. Like everything else on the EDR, there aren't many rules, except these:

• No ringers on trailers. Only bikes ridden to San Felipe may enter
• Flag start, bike with the smallest displacement gets the inside line
• Three laps, no crap
• Winner advances, loser parks
• No classes, one winner, one trophy

If there's time left after the official event, we'll open the track up to hot man-on-man action.

Our bet is about 20 guys will sack up for this event. That should make for some exciting racing. Who's in? There will be plenty of seating, and Aaron has promised to bring water and beer. Of course, betting will be encouraged.

See you at the races...
