MCGOO'S DONOR BIKE

I realize that "hell raising" and "Sportster" go together like "man tits" and "frisbee," but I've got EDR fever. That means it's time to build another bike. I picked up this donor machine from a crazy old woman in San Diego. It's a 1999 XL883 with 172 ORIGINAL miles. According to the motivated seller, the bike hadn't been ridden in four years. Four grand later I flushed the gas tank, drained the oil, charged the battery, pulled the choke and started her right up. She's not much to look at, but I'm planning to throw the motor into a Smokin' Gun rigid frame from our friends Jason and Marty at Flyrite Choppers. I'll chronicle the build as it progresses. In other EDR theme bike news, our friend Andy Jenkins has committed to painting my EDR special for next year's ride. I know all this bike building is just so much self-agrandizing crap, but I've got a fever and the only cure is more Sportster! Via con Dios, amigos!
